Terms of Use

Last updated: October 28, 2026

Using Proto-Dash

Proto-Dash is a remote prototyping competition organized by the MTU Open Source Hardware Enterprise. These terms apply to the website and accounts. Contact the organizing team through our Contact page. By creating an account, you agree to these terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy.

Accounts and eligibility

Use your own university-issued email, provide accurate information, and keep your password private. You must be authorized to represent any team you register. You are responsible for activity under your account; report suspected misuse promptly. A verified email is required before entering competitions. Account access does not by itself establish eligibility for an event or a prize.

Acceptable use

Do not bypass access controls, manipulate timers or scores, impersonate someone, harass others, scrape private participant data, or upload malware, unlawful material, or content you do not have permission to use. Do not test security against the live service without authorization. Report a suspected vulnerability privately to the organizing team without sharing participant data.

Competition participation

The Competition Rules and the agreement shown for each event also apply. The event agreement controls event-specific eligibility, deadlines, deliverables, judging, and prizes. Review it before accepting; the site records your affirmative acceptance and then starts your team timer. Website summaries do not extend a deadline or guarantee an award.

Your content and intellectual property

You retain ownership of your project and pre-existing work. You grant the limited permission needed to store, reproduce, and privately share your entry with authorized administrators and judges to operate the competition. Public project showcases require the permission described in the event agreement. You must obtain contributor permissions and comply with third-party licenses. Do not submit confidential information that the event is not authorized to receive.

Availability and external services

We aim to keep the service available but cannot promise uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or compatibility with every device. Keep your own copies of project files and submit before the deadline. Report technical problems promptly, including the event and time of the problem. External forms, community services, and linked sites have their own terms and privacy policies.

Safety and responsibility

You and your institution are responsible for safe project work, supervision, equipment permissions, and compliance with applicable law and laboratory rules. Site content is general competition information and does not replace qualified engineering or safety advice. Nothing in these terms limits rights or responsibilities that cannot legally be limited.

Suspension and account closure

We may restrict accounts or remove content to address security incidents, safety concerns, unlawful activity, or violations of these terms. When practicable, we will explain the reason and allow a response. Contact us to request a review or account deletion. Records may be retained as described in the Privacy Policy.

Questions, disputes, and updates

Contact the organizing team first so we can investigate concerns about accounts or administration. Include the relevant event and a clear description; do not send passwords or private access links. Applicable law continues to govern your rights. Event-specific dispute procedures are stated in the agreement accepted for that event. We will date updates to these terms and notify account holders of material changes when appropriate; changes do not retroactively replace an accepted event agreement.
